Innovate to Nourish (I2N) Myanmar Challenge 2021: Calling Innovators!
Malnutrition is one of the greatest development challenges of Myanmar affecting millions of people especially children and women and the poor. Malnutrition limits human development potential and creates a burden on the health systems thereby limiting the country to achieve its development goals. Access to safe nutritious food is critical to achieving good nutritional status and health, however, not everyone, especially the vulnerable groups including women, children, and low-income people have easy access to it.
An important pathway to nutritional impact lies in the transformation of the food systems that deliver the food to the consumers. Transforming the food systems from promoting unhealthy and less nutritious food to safe, healthy, and nutritious food is critical to address the issue of malnutrition in Myanmar.
Startups and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a significant role in the development of food systems and they can also play a role in changing and shaping the food systems for improving nutrition. Startups and SMEs are working on innovative solutions (products, business models, technologies, and services) that can contribute to increased demand, supply, and affordability of safe nutritious food. Supporting them in scaling up the solutions can support the transformation of the food systems sustainably.
The I2N Myanmar is aimed at identifying “Innovative Solutions” in the food systems that target and contribute to increased demand, availability, and affordability of safe, nutritious food, and support them to develop and scale. Moreover, it aims to help them to develop linkages with investors, academia, and the food industry at large to secure investments and develop partnerships.
The I2N Myanmar Challenge 2021 is Initiated by The SUN Business Network (SBN) Myanmar in collaboration with UN-WFP and Impact Hub Yangon and funding support from The LIFT Myanmar.
